-Short Answer: As experienced brokers, we are advocates for our clients. We have our client's best interest in mind at all times and work with all the insurance companies to get our clients the best deal available. Versus company agents, and inexperienced brokers who have a company’s best interest in mind and a limited supply of products available. They don’t care what you choose, as long as you get a product from them.
-Long Answer: To put my answer in perspective I give my clients this brief narrative that I’ll share with you. Have you ever reached your hand into a hat or bag to draw a slip of paper with the name of a prize on it? When you do so, you know the general end result. You’re going to pull out a random piece of paper, you know there’s a prize on it and it’s probably nothing you want or desire. Well, when shopping for insurance and financial products online or with inexperienced brokers and agents you can expect nearly the same result. For instance, say you’re looking for health insurance. There are thousands of online companies that would love to help you find one of literally hundreds of health insurance products. So you “reach your hand into the online hat” knowing you’ll pull out a few health insurance products, but are they what you want? 99% of our clients whom have previously done business online say they actually did not receive the products they were looking for. Nor, were the end results they received the same as they were quoted up front. Here’s where things get problematic. You enter a few key pieces of information and a general software decides which products are right for you. Not to mention the fact that they don’t ask specific questions necessary to determine what it is exactly that your goals or plans are, how much insurance is necessary for you, etc. At the same time, one must be cautious when applying for health insurance, because if you’re not aware of the impact your previous or current medical condition will have on your health insurance approval, you could be declined and red flagged by other health insurance carriers. This is how working with online services or inexperienced brokers and agents can be frustrating and even detrimental.
